Psychotherapy
Compassionate Psychotherapy for Children, Teens & Families
At New York Child Psychiatry (NYCP), we provide individualized psychotherapy for children and adolescents facing emotional, behavioral, social, and developmental challenges. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where young people can feel heard, develop healthy coping skills, and build the confidence they need to thrive.
We understand that children and adolescents experience mental health challenges differently than adults. Our therapy approach is tailored to each child's age, developmental stage, personality, strengths, and individual needs.

Therapy Designed for Your Child
There is no single approach to therapy that works for every child. We take the time to understand your child's unique experiences and develop an individualized treatment plan.
Depending on your child's needs, psychotherapy may incorporate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, family-based interventions, and other therapeutic techniques.
Parents and caregivers may also be involved in treatment when appropriate. Supporting the family can be an important part of helping a child make lasting progress.
A Safe Space to Be Heard
For many children and teens, asking for help can be difficult. Therapy provides a confidential and supportive space where they can talk openly about what they're experiencing and learn that they don't have to navigate those challenges alone.
Our providers work to build trusting therapeutic relationships while helping children develop practical skills they can use at home, at school, and in their relationships.
Comprehensive Mental Health Care
Psychotherapy can be provided as a stand-alone service or as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that may include psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
For children and adolescents with more complex needs, our providers can coordinate care with parents, schools, pediatricians, and other members of the child's healthcare team when appropriate.
NYCP also offers specialized mental health services through our Eating Disorders Division, providing individualized care for children and adolescents experiencing eating disorders and related concerns.
